The Nigerian Senate has confirmed that the Federal Government has approved the recruitment of 30,000 additional youth into the Nigeria Police Force this year, with plans to continue similar recruitment annually.

Senator Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs and representative of Jigawa North East, disclosed this information to journalists at his office. He stated that the Police Service Commission has received approval to proceed with the recruitment exercise.

According to Senator Madori, "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the commission go ahead to recruit the number every year to fill the gap in the Force." The initiative aims to ensure proper policing across the country while addressing the existing manpower shortages within the police force.

The Senator further noted that the Police Service Commission will announce the recruitment process through national dailies. He also issued a warning to Nigerians to exercise caution to avoid falling victim to scammers who might exploit the recruitment exercise.

This recruitment drive represents a significant step in strengthening Nigeria's internal security architecture, particularly at a time when the country faces various security challenges across different regions.

The announcement comes amid growing calls for improved security measures and increased police presence in communities nationwide. The annual recruitment of 30,000 officers, if sustained, could substantially increase the police-to-citizen ratio in Nigeria over the coming years.
