The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on youths in the South-East region to join forces with the agency in its fight against corruption and financial crimes.

EFCC Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, made this appeal during the 2025 Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Conference held in Enugu State on June 27, 2025.

Speaking on the theme "The Police and The Youth, Bridging The Gap," Olukoyede emphasized the crucial role of young people in securing the nation's future.

"We are resilient and always insist that the right thing is done against all odds. Please, cooperate with us. We are not your enemies, we are your friends. We are here to protect you and to serve you," he stated.

Sanitizing the South-East Region

The EFCC chairman highlighted the commission's commitment to transforming the South-East region by tackling economic and financial crimes head-on.

"The EFCC is here to enable the youths and help them re-align with their future endeavours because, without them, our tomorrow is not assured," Olukoyede remarked.

He stressed that the agency aims to nurture a generation of young leaders with integrity, knowledge, and a desire to positively impact their communities.

"We need the youths to hand over to, but they must have integrity, be knowledgeable, and willing to impact the community. We are determined to turn the fortunes of the Southeast completely around, in relation to the fight against economic and financial crimes," he added.

Call for Intelligence Sharing

Olukoyede urged young people to support the EFCC's efforts through intelligence sharing. He encouraged them to download and utilize the Eagle Eye App to report fraudulent activities in their surroundings.

The chairman reiterated that the commission's work goes beyond enforcement to encompass service delivery and upholding dignity in the fight against corruption.

This appeal comes as part of broader efforts by the EFCC to engage communities in its anti-corruption campaign and build trust between law enforcement agencies and citizens.
