PUBG MOBILE has made a groundbreaking announcement for African gamers, officially opening registrations for the inaugural 2025 PUBG MOBILE Africa Cup. For the first time in the game's competitive history, players from Sub-Saharan Africa will have a direct qualification path to the prestigious PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (2025 PMGC).

This landmark tournament represents a significant milestone for the African esports ecosystem, which has previously lacked a clear route to global competition despite the PMGC redefining mobile competitive gaming since its inception in 2020.

Tournament Structure and Registration

Registration for the Africa Cup will be available through the PUBG MOBILE app from June 26th to July 9th, 2025. The competition will follow a progressive format, beginning with online qualifiers and group stages before culminating in an all-expenses-paid Grand Final hosted in Kenya in September 2025.

Smartphone manufacturer Infinix has signed on as the primary sponsor for the tournament, which boasts an impressive $8,000 prize pool. The championship team will secure $2,000 and the coveted qualification spot for the 2025 PMGC. Second and third-place finishers will receive $1,400 and $1,000 respectively, with prizes distributed all the way down to 16th place.

A Gateway to Global Recognition

"We are so excited by the Africa Cup and we just can't wait to see players from all over the continent drop into the zone and fight side by side with their squads for the title of Africa's best," said Brian, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing in Sub-Saharan Africa. "If you think you're best, then it's time to test yourself and show the rest of the continent the stuff you're made of."

The tournament represents more than just competition—it's a platform for showcasing African talent on the global stage and nurturing the next generation of esports professionals from the continent.

With competitive mobile gaming gaining significant traction across Africa, the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Africa Cup arrives at a pivotal moment for the region's esports development.

About PUBG MOBILE

PUBG MOBILE is based on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, the battle royale phenomenon that took the gaming world by storm in 2017. The game features up to 100 players parachuting onto a remote island to battle in a winner-takes-all showdown. Players must locate weapons, vehicles, and supplies while strategically navigating a shrinking play zone.

The mobile version is co-developed by LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS of Tencent Games and KRAFTON, Inc., and has established itself as one of the world's most popular mobile esports titles.

Fans can follow the tournament's progress through PUBG MOBILE Africa's official social media channels on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
