Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has confirmed that 22 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of 12 Kaduna indigenes in Plateau State.

The victims were reportedly ambushed and killed last Saturday while traveling through the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. They were en route to a wedding ceremony in Quan Pan Local Government Area when the attack occurred.

Governor's Response to the Attack

During a visit to the injured survivors receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, Governor Sani condemned the attack, describing it as "barbaric."

"I am in constant communication with Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and President Bola Tinubu to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice," Sani stated.

The governor commended Kaduna residents for maintaining peace despite the provocation and urged community leaders to discourage any acts of violence or reprisal attacks.

Calls for Justice

BenriNews previously reported that Governor Sani had called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute all those involved in the attack. Various groups, including a Muslim organization, have demanded justice for the victims.

Northern governors have also condemned the killing of the Kaduna travelers in Plateau and warned against reprisal attacks that could further escalate tensions in the region.

The murdered travelers were reportedly buried in Plateau amid tight security, while Speaker Abbas has also condemned the killing of the 12 travelers.

This incident comes amid calls from various groups for politicians to address the recent upsurge in insecurity across the northern region.
