Popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has finally addressed public concerns after his elder brother called for prayers following his sudden disappearance from social media platforms.
The controversy began when VeryDarkMan's brother, Mark Otse, took to social media on Sunday morning with a concerning message that quickly went viral. In his appeal, Mark requested Nigerians pray for his brother at their various worship centers, cryptically stating that "it's difficult to explain what is going on."
"Good morning everyone, I am not here to say much. All I want you to do is to pray for VeryDarkMan. He has not posted for two days now. You all have been asking questions like 'where is VeryDarkMan?' The truth is I don't know how to say this right now. This is so difficult for real," Mark said in the video shared on his Instagram page.
The unusual plea sparked widespread concern about VeryDarkMan's wellbeing and whereabouts among his followers and the general public.
Mental Distress Over National Issues
Breaking his silence, VeryDarkMan explained that his absence was due to mental distress over the ongoing farmer-herder conflicts in Nigeria.
"I really wish everyone can understand. I haven't been able to post in the last few hours because my mind is still fkd, the killings involving the herdsmen and farmers is too much and believe me for the past 5 days, I haven't been able to sleep," he revealed.
The social media personality further explained that he had been conducting research to better understand the root causes of the persistent violence in Benue and Plateau states, which has taken a toll on his mental health.
"Benue killings didn't start today, Jos Plateau killings didn't start today it goes back to 10/15 years, same style same format and same reaction (protest, security chiefs visiting victims and affected areas) everything is the same. The question is not when does it stop, the question is how does it stop?" he questioned.
VeryDarkMan concluded his message with an apology for his absence, stating: "My mind is messed up in thoughts that I can't explain. Anyways let me not ruin your Sunday with my worries, happy Sunday my people."
This incident comes amid VeryDarkMan's increasing engagement with sociopolitical issues in Nigeria, including his recent criticism of government responses to security challenges and his participation in protests against herder violence in Makurdi.
