The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hector Ekakita, has denied allegations that he orchestrated the recent attack on the local government administrator, Goodluck Iheamnacho.

The incident gained public attention after Iheamnacho reportedly resigned his appointment when a resignation letter purportedly signed by him circulated on social media.

Following the viral video showing the alleged assault, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, summoned both the CSO and the Chief of Staff to the administrator on Sunday. Police authorities described the incident as "the handiwork of hoodlums allegedly led by officials working under the LG administrator," specifically pointing to the CSO and Chief of Staff.

CSO Refutes Allegations

Speaking with Channels TV on Monday, Ekakita firmly rejected the accusations, stating there was no way he would "venture into carrying hoodlums to go and attack the man that I'm working with."

"The only thing that happened, according to the video if you watch it, is that when I heard a voice from my office, I barged in, but I was asked to shut the door that the matter was between the sole administrator and his political appointees that he did not pay in the month of May," Ekakita explained.

He emphasized that he "was never found in the video" of the alleged attack and insisted, "I didn't make any video nor did I carry any hoodlums to attack him."

Background of the Controversy

The controversy appears to stem from a dispute between the sole administrator and his political appointees over unpaid salaries for May, according to Ekakita's account.

BenriNews recalls that the incident has added to the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, where local government administration has been a contentious issue in recent months.

As investigations continue, the police are yet to make any formal charges regarding the incident that has further complicated the political landscape in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
