Stakeholders from Anambra North Senatorial Zone have officially endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term in a massive rally held at Otuocha Township Stadium over the weekend. The endorsement comes ahead of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
Thousands of supporters from the seven local government areas that make up the zone gathered to pledge their support for the incumbent governor under the theme 'Sustaining The Solution Legacy; A Path To Disruptive Development In Anambra State'.
Strong Vote of Confidence
The Anambra North Stakeholders Forum, a coalition comprising current and former elected officials, appointees, and key community leaders, issued a communiqué read by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze. The document highlighted landmark projects initiated by Soludo in the zone as justification for their endorsement.
In a significant cultural gesture, traditional rulers from communities across the zone collectively conferred the chieftaincy title of "Oluatuegwu" (meaning "one who is not afraid of work") on Governor Soludo. The title reportedly originated from a rural woman's exclamation at a project site where the governor had cleared decades-old refuse.
Governor's Response
Expressing surprise at the timing of the endorsement, Soludo said: "I am quite excited and surprised that the North Senatorial Zone began this movement officially, even when we have not even set up a campaign council because we are still focused on the work."
He added, "Today is a powerful demonstration of our collective resolve to move our state forward. We have largely perfected the process of zoning in Anambra state, where each of the three zones produce successive governors."
While expressing confidence in victory, the governor assured his supporters that he would campaign vigorously once the official campaign period begins, stating that he would not take any candidate for granted.
The event marks the first major endorsement rally for Soludo as the November gubernatorial election approaches, potentially setting the tone for his re-election campaign.
