The Nigerian Navy has intensified its crackdown on illegal oil refining activities with recent operations in Delta and Rivers States, according to a statement released on Friday.
Personnel from Operation DELTA SANITY discovered and deactivated a dump site used for illegal refining activities in Obotebe community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
According to the Navy's official statement, the deactivated site contained one Yamaha engine, one generator, six pumping machines, and two rolls of hoses.
Additional Operations in Rivers State
On the same day, Nigerian Navy Ship PATHFINDER conducted a separate operation in Egbema, Rivers State, where they discovered and deactivated an illegal connection to a wellhead, two illegal refining sites with three refining ovens, and four dug-out pits containing an unspecified amount of illegally siphoned crude oil.
These operations are part of the Nigerian Navy's ongoing efforts to combat oil theft and illegal refining activities in the Niger Delta region, which have caused significant environmental damage and economic losses to the nation.
The Nigerian Navy continues to demonstrate its commitment to protecting Nigeria's maritime resources and ensuring the security of oil installations across the Niger Delta.
