Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested seven individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud following coordinated operations in Abuja on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The suspects were apprehended during simultaneous raids in the Lifecamp and Kubwa areas of the Federal Capital Territory. According to the anti-graft agency, the operations were conducted based on actionable intelligence that linked the suspects to various online scam activities.
Luxury Items Seized During Raids
During the operations, EFCC officials recovered several high-value items from the suspects, including eight luxury vehicles, premium laptops, and various mobile phones. These items are believed to have been acquired through proceeds from fraudulent online activities.
The commission stated that investigations are currently ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned in court once these investigations are concluded.
This operation is part of the EFCC's continued efforts to combat the rising cases of internet fraud in Nigeria, particularly in major cities like Abuja where such activities have seen a significant increase in recent years.
The EFCC has intensified its crackdown on cybercrime across the country, with similar operations being conducted in various states as part of the commission's mandate to curb financial crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.
The commission's chairman recently emphasized the agency's commitment to returning stolen assets to Nigerians and ensuring that those involved in financial crimes face the full weight of the law.
