The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has announced plans to embark on a nationwide tour beginning June 23, 2025, aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business across Nigeria.

Princess Zahrah Mustapha-Audu, Director General of PEBEC, revealed in a statement on Tuesday that the initiative will run until mid-July and is designed to create a more conducive business environment, attract investment, and drive economic growth throughout Africa's largest economy.

Key Features of the PEBEC Tour

The nationwide initiative will feature technical sessions and town hall meetings, providing stakeholders with opportunities to engage directly with government officials. These forums will allow businesses to share experiences and propose reforms that could streamline business operations across the country.

"The tour will provide an opportunity for businesses, investors, and the general public to interact with government officials, share concerns, and propose solutions to challenges hindering business growth," Mustapha-Audu stated.

Economic Context

The initiative comes at a critical time for Nigeria's economy. BenriNews reports that Nigeria's total merchandise trade recently stood at N36.02 trillion, representing a 6.19 percent increase compared to N33.92 trillion in the first quarter of 2024, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

This nationwide effort by PEBEC aligns with broader government strategies to improve Nigeria's business climate, which has faced challenges including regulatory hurdles, infrastructure deficits, and policy inconsistencies that have affected investor confidence.

The tour is expected to address specific regional business concerns and create tailored solutions that recognize the diverse economic landscapes across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.
