New Chelsea striker, Liam Delap, has expressed his happiness after making his debut for the club in their Club World Cup opener against Los Angeles FC on Monday.

Delap, who joined Chelsea this summer from Ipswich Town after the Blues triggered his £30million release clause, made an immediate impact coming off the bench in their 2-0 victory.

The 22-year-old forward was introduced by manager Enzo Maresca with Chelsea already leading 1-0 thanks to Pedro Neto's goal. Delap quickly made his presence felt by providing the assist for Enzo Fernandez's 79th-minute strike that sealed the win.

Delap Excited About Chelsea Journey

Speaking after the match, Delap shared his excitement about his debut performance. "It's a really happy feeling for me. I'm so excited to be here and to play my first game and be able to contribute is a good feeling," he told reporters.

The young striker also praised his new teammates for their warm welcome. "The team have welcomed me really well. I have only had a few sessions here but I am excited for more," he added.

When asked if fans could expect more assists from him in future matches, Delap responded: "Yes of course it is good to help the team but I want to score some as well," indicating his ambition to make a significant impact at his new club.

Chelsea's victory marks a positive start to their Club World Cup campaign, with Maresca's side showing promising signs as they integrate their new signings into the squad.

The Blues will be looking to build on this performance in their upcoming fixtures as they aim to claim the Club World Cup trophy for the first time in the club's history.
