Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars have initiated inquiries about veteran coach Mohammed Babaganaru's availability for their vacant technical adviser position, with reports indicating he is the frontrunner for the role.
Babaganaru, who resigned from his position as head coach of Akwa United in December, has previously managed Kano Pillars on two separate occasions, making him a familiar figure at the club.
According to BenriNews sources, the Sai Masu Gida management has identified Babaganaru as their preferred candidate, but they are also considering Nasarawa United's head coach, Salisu Yusuf, as an alternative option.
Yusuf, who successfully guided Nasarawa United away from relegation last season, is yet to sign a contract extension with the Solid Miners, potentially opening the door for a move to Kano.
Coaching Experience
Babaganaru's previous stints with Kano Pillars were marked by notable success, which likely contributes to the club's interest in bringing him back for a third spell. His familiarity with the club's structure and philosophy could provide a seamless transition for the team.
Meanwhile, Salisu Yusuf brings considerable experience, having previously worked with the national team setup. His recent achievement of securing Nasarawa United's NPFL status has enhanced his reputation as a coach capable of managing challenging situations.
Kano Pillars' decision comes as they look to strengthen their technical bench ahead of the upcoming season, with the club aiming to improve their performance in the NPFL.
The appointment of either coach would signal Kano Pillars' intent to compete at the highest level of Nigerian football, with both candidates bringing valuable experience and tactical knowledge to the role.
