The National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) has announced plans to implement Computer-Based Tests (CBT) for its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) common entrance examinations and other assessments conducted by the board.
This announcement was made by NABTEB's Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Muhammed Aminu Muhammed, during the monitoring of TVET's common entrance examination into federal technical colleges in Uromi, Edo State.
Represented by Osaigbovo Pius, the director of the quality assurance department, Muhammed emphasized that the board is currently establishing the necessary infrastructure to facilitate CBT examinations in future assessment cycles.
"CBT is the way to go now. JAMB is already doing it and WAEC may follow next year," he stated. "We want to ensure that the infrastructure to enable the CBT exam is on ground."
The move aligns NABTEB with other major examination bodies in Nigeria that have either implemented or are planning to adopt computer-based testing methods, reflecting the growing digitalization of Nigeria's educational assessment systems.
This development comes as part of broader efforts to modernize technical and vocational education in the country, ensuring that assessment methods keep pace with technological advancements in the educational sector.
