Stormers SC have secured promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) after emerging victorious in the 2025 Nationwide League One (NLO) promotional playoff, following their 2-1 win against Real Sapphire.

The crucial match, played at the Olubadan Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday, saw the Abeokuta-based club demonstrate their determination to return to the second-tier league after being relegated last season.

Impressive Performance Throughout the Season

Stormers SC's promotion comes after an outstanding campaign both in the regular season and playoff stages. During the playoff tournament, they accumulated six points from three matches, recording two wins and suffering just one defeat.

Their regular season performance was equally impressive, with the team securing nine victories, drawing once, and losing only one match. This consistent form laid the foundation for their successful promotion bid.

The victory marks a significant achievement for Stormers SC, who have now earned the right to compete in the second-tier Nigeria National League in the upcoming season, just one year after their relegation to the NLO.

BenriNews recalls that Stormers SC's relegation last season has now been quickly reversed, demonstrating the club's resilience and determination to climb back up the Nigerian football league pyramid.

The promotion adds another chapter to the growing competitive nature of lower league football in Nigeria, as clubs continue to strive for opportunities to showcase their talents at higher levels of the country's football structure.
