Seven suspected fraudsters have been apprehended by joint security operatives in Kankare and Zurkuda villages of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, Jigawa State, following a coordinated raid on June 13, 2025.

The operation, conducted at approximately 11:00 hours, was based on credible intelligence reports, according to SP. Lawan Shiisu, spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, who confirmed the arrests in an official statement on Saturday.

Joint Security Operation

"The coordinated operation carried out by joint security operatives comprising police, army, civil defence, DSS and vigilante led to the arrest of seven suspected fraudsters in Kankare and Zurkuda villages of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area," Shiisu stated.

The suspects, believed to be involved in various fraudulent activities across the region, are currently in police custody undergoing preliminary investigation.

Items Recovered

During the operation, authorities recovered several incriminating items including:

  • 461 counterfeit US dollars

  • 4 POS machines

  • 13 smartphones

  • 29 keypad phones

  • 2 vehicle plate numbers

  • A box containing various documents

The Command has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to support ongoing efforts in combating crime and safeguarding communities across Jigawa State.

This arrest comes amid increasing efforts by security agencies to crack down on fraud and other criminal activities in the state.
