The Enyimba International Stadium in Aba is currently undergoing extensive renovations following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, as authorities aim to elevate the facility to meet required standards.
The home ground of nine-time NPFL champions Enyimba International FC is seeing significant improvements with new seats being installed throughout the stadium. Simultaneously, roofing and painting works are approaching completion, giving the iconic venue a fresh appearance.
In a major boost to the stadium's infrastructure, the Abia State government has approved the installation of a 500kva power plant for the ground, which should address previous power supply challenges at the facility.
Preparation for New Season
The People's Elephant, as Enyimba is fondly called, are currently on a break following the conclusion of the previous campaign. The team is expected to resume preparations for the new season later this month, with players returning to utilize the improved facilities.
According to the NPFL calendar, the 2025/26 season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, August 22, giving the renovation team adequate time to complete all necessary upgrades before competitive matches return to the venue.
The stadium renovation represents a significant investment in Nigerian football infrastructure and demonstrates the commitment to improving sporting facilities in Abia State.
