Usman Abdallah has resigned from his position as technical adviser of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Kano Pillars, citing personal reasons for his departure.

The 50-year-old coach guided the Sai Masu Gida to a ninth-place finish in the NPFL last season, an improvement from their 11th position in the previous campaign. His appointment came just weeks before the start of the season.

Turbulent Tenure at Kano Pillars

Abdallah's time with the four-time NPFL champions was not without controversy. During the season, he faced a suspension following a disagreement with fans, highlighting the challenges he encountered while at the helm of the club.

With Abdallah's departure, Kano Pillars are expected to appoint a new coach before the commencement of the 2025/26 season. Reports suggest the club is already in talks with potential candidates to fill the vacant position.

Experienced Tactician

Abdallah is regarded as one of the most experienced coaches in the NPFL. His impressive resume includes managing nine-time champions Enyimba and Nigeria National League (NNL) side Wikki Tourists. He also served as an assistant to former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro.

The departure of such an experienced tactician represents a significant change for Kano Pillars as they prepare for the upcoming season.
