The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State has expressed its vision for a Nigeria where democracy transcends mere governance to become a way of life that upholds the dignity, rights, and well-being of every citizen as the nation commemorates its 26th year of democratic rule.

Rev. Caleb Bawa Ma'aji, Kaduna State CAN Chairman, in his Democracy Day message, emphasized that Nigeria stands at a critical juncture with significant potential for growth and progress. He noted that this potential can only be fully realized through a patriotic citizenry and leadership characterized by justice, equity, and productivity.

"We are praying for a nation where democracy is not just a system of governance but a way of life that promotes the dignity, rights, and well-being of every individual," Ma'aji stated.

Call for Responsible Leadership

The CAN chairman urged all Nigerians to pray for the country's leadership at all levels, calling for divine guidance in wisdom, integrity, and commitment to citizens' welfare. He specifically called on leaders to prioritize principles of justice, fairness, and inclusivity to ensure every Nigerian feels valued and empowered to contribute to national prosperity regardless of their background.

"On this Democracy Day, we renew our commitment to working towards a more just, equitable, and prosperous society. We call on all stakeholders, government, religious leaders, civil society, and the general public to join hands in this noble endeavor," the association stated.

The message comes as Nigeria celebrates another milestone in its democratic journey, reflecting on the progress made since the return to civilian rule and the challenges that still lie ahead in consolidating democratic values across the nation.
