The traditional ruler of Okoloke community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, Pa Dada Ogunyanda, has regained his freedom after spending 27 days in captivity.

Tosin Olokun, the chairman of Yagba West Local Government, confirmed the monarch's release on Wednesday in Lokoja through his Chief Press Secretary, Sunday Adeyemi.

Kidnapping and Release Details

The Obalohun of Okoloke was abducted from his palace around 2 am on May 15, 2025. According to the local government chairman, the monarch has now rejoined his family and is currently receiving medical attention.

The release comes as a relief to the community, which had been in distress since the traditional ruler's abduction. However, details regarding whether any ransom was paid or the circumstances surrounding his release have not been disclosed.

This incident adds to the growing concerns about the security of traditional rulers in Nigeria, with several similar cases reported across the country in recent months.
