Bandits have abducted Imam Sulaiman Idris Faru, the Chief Imam of Faru Jumu'ah Mosque, in a disturbing incident that occurred early Wednesday morning in Zamfara State.

According to reports, the Islamic cleric was seized by armed men while working on his farm in Faru, located in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The abduction was first brought to public attention by a social media user on X platform.

As of the time of this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the whereabouts of Imam Sulaiman remains unknown. It is also unclear whether any contact has been made with the family or if ransom demands have been issued.

Community Reaction and Security Concerns

Residents of the area have expressed fear and anger over what they describe as consistent targeting of religious and community leaders by criminal elements. Many are calling on security agencies to take decisive action to address the deteriorating security situation in the region.

Zamfara authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the abduction of the Chief Imam.

This incident adds to the growing list of security challenges facing Zamfara State, which has become one of the epicenters of banditry in Nigeria's North-West region. Over recent years, villagers, schools, places of worship, and farmlands have repeatedly been targeted in violent attacks.

The abduction of a prominent religious figure highlights the boldness of these criminal groups and raises further concerns about the safety of community leaders in the region.

In a separate but related development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Kaduna, according to reports.
