Jacob Aondona has emerged as the winner of Sporting Lagos' Player of the Month award for May 2025, the Nigeria National League (NNL) club announced.
The defender outperformed three other nominees—Abraham Idakwo, Babatunde Akomolede, and Thompson Gavi—to claim the prestigious monthly recognition.
Defensive Excellence Recognized
Aondona's stellar performances in the heart of Sporting Lagos' defense throughout May proved decisive in securing him the award. Beyond his defensive contributions, he also registered an assist during the period under review, showcasing his versatility on the pitch.
Despite individual brilliance from players like Aondona, Sporting Lagos fell short of securing an NNL playoff ticket at the conclusion of the 2025 season. The club finished their campaign with a respectable record of nine wins, five draws, and six defeats across 20 matches.
