A Supercomputer has predicted Portuguese giants Benfica will emerge as champions of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off next weekend in the United States.
According to predictions conducted by BoyleSports, English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City will both fall short in their quest to claim the prestigious global title.
The expanded tournament format begins on Sunday, with Chelsea and Manchester City representing England after their respective UEFA Champions League triumphs in 2021 and 2023. Both clubs previously won the Club World Cup in its former format.
The Supercomputer forecasts an early elimination for Chelsea, while Manchester City is predicted to advance impressively through the knockout stages by defeating European heavyweights Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus.
However, Pep Guardiola's side will ultimately fall at the final hurdle, losing 2-1 to Benfica in what would be a stunning upset against the Portuguese side.
Tournament Format and Expectations
This year's Club World Cup features an expanded format with more teams competing across multiple venues in the United States. The tournament represents a significant evolution from previous editions, offering clubs from different confederations enhanced opportunities to claim global supremacy.
Despite their previous success in the competition, the Supercomputer suggests both English representatives will struggle to adapt to the new format and challenging summer conditions in America.
Manchester City's predicted path to the final includes impressive victories over some of Europe's elite clubs, showcasing their potential dominance, before the surprising final defeat to Benfica.
The tournament begins on Sunday, with football fans worldwide eager to see if these predictions will materialize or if another club will defy expectations to lift the trophy.
