The Taraba State Government has issued a formal apology to civil servants who were affected by the delay in payment of May 2025 salaries, acknowledging that many workers observed the recent Sallah celebration without receiving their monthly remuneration.
In a statement signed by the Head of Civil Service on Monday, the government assured that swift measures are being implemented to resolve the issue, while commending civil servants for their patience and understanding during this period.
Verification Process Established
The statement directed all civil servants who were not paid, underpaid, or wrongly placed in the May payroll to report to their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) without delay.
"Permanent Secretaries, Secretaries, and Staff Officers have been instructed to compile and submit a comprehensive list of all affected personnel by Thursday, June 12, to the designated Committee Chairman for immediate verification and clearance," the statement read.
Dr. Kara, the Head of Service, emphasized the government's commitment to resolving the matter promptly, stating that "all those cleared shall be paid immediately."
Measures to Ease Burden on Workers
To minimize inconvenience for civil servants, particularly those residing outside the state capital, the verification committee will work in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Service and organized labor to establish accessible verification modalities.
"This initiative is geared towards eliminating the need for long-distance travel and expediting the payment process," Dr. Kara explained, while reiterating the state government's commitment to worker welfare.
The government has appealed for continued cooperation from civil servants as the verification and payment process unfolds.
