Real Madrid legend Luka Modric has named Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha as the current best midfielder in the world, highlighting the Portuguese star's exceptional ability to organize games and elevate team performance.
"Vitinha is one of the best, if not the best, midfielders. The other day, when he came on at halftime, he once again made a big difference," Modric stated in recent comments to Nova TV.
The Croatian maestro, widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation, was effusive in his praise for the 25-year-old PSG star. "I think he had a phenomenal season, he's the kind of player who helps the team play better. I really like him as a player. He's a game organizer and he's indispensable to the team," Modric added.
Trophy-Laden Season for Vitinha
Vitinha's recognition comes after an impressive 2024-25 campaign where he played a pivotal role in PSG's treble-winning season, securing the UEFA Champions League, French Cup, and Ligue 1 title.
The midfielder's success extended to international duty as well, with Portugal claiming the UEFA Nations League trophy on Sunday in Munich after defeating Spain 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the final.
"He showed that in the Champions League and with the national team. In my opinion, he was perhaps the best midfielder last season. He's excellent on the ball, I really like him," Modric concluded.
Vitinha's rise to prominence has established him as one of football's elite midfielders, with his technical ability and game intelligence drawing comparisons to some of the sport's greatest playmakers, including Modric himself.
