The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the death of 45-year-old Ahmed Aliyu following a stabbing attack by unknown assailants in the Hammadu Kafi area of Akko Local Government Area on Sunday.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident was reported around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday by a relative of the deceased, identified as Bashir Umar. The attack reportedly occurred earlier that day at approximately 8:00 a.m.

"From the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim was attacked with knives and had fatal injuries on the left side of his chest and back," Abdullahi stated in the release.

The victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where medical personnel later pronounced him dead.

Police Launch Investigation

The police described the attack as "senseless and unwarranted" and confirmed that an intelligence-led investigation has been launched to track down and apprehend the suspects responsible for the fatal stabbing.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm while appealing for public cooperation in the investigation. The Command has requested that anyone with information that could assist in solving the case come forward.

This incident comes amid reports of other security challenges in northern Nigeria, including kidnappings and road accidents that continue to raise concerns about public safety in the region.
