Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of promising defender Mamadou Sarr from French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg. The 19-year-old has committed his future to the Premier League side with an impressive nine-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

Sarr established himself as a regular starter for Strasbourg during the 2024/2025 season, making 28 appearances across all competitions. The young defender played a crucial role in helping the French club secure qualification for European football next season.

"Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou," read part of Chelsea's official statement released on Monday.

Manchester City Bid Farewell to Veteran Goalkeeper

In related transfer news, Manchester City have confirmed that goalkeeper Scott Carson will leave Pep Guardiola's side following the expiration of his contract this summer.

The 39-year-old veteran has been with City since 2019, initially joining on loan before completing a free transfer in the summer of 2021. During his five-year stint at the Etihad, Carson became a valued member of the goalkeeping unit under Guardiola's management.

Though primarily serving as a backup, Carson made his City debut in a victory against Newcastle United in May 2021. His second appearance came in the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Sporting CP in the 2021/22 season.

"Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future," stated City in their announcement on Monday.

Both transfers highlight the ongoing squad reshaping at two of the Premier League's top clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
