Brazilian football star, Neymar, has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time, according to an official statement from his club, Santos FC.

The club revealed that the 33-year-old forward is currently undergoing treatment after developing symptoms last week.

"With viral condition that started on Thursday, June 5, 2025, Neymar Jr. underwent laboratory tests, after evaluation by the Medical Department of Santos FC, which confirmed infection by Covid-19," the statement read.

"He had been away from activities since Thursday, and undergoing symptomatic treatment," Santos further disclosed.

Not Neymar's First COVID-19 Encounter

This marks the second time the Brazilian superstar has contracted the virus. BenriNews reports that Neymar previously tested positive for COVID-19 in 2021 during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite being Brazil's record goalscorer with an impressive 79 international goals, Neymar has faced significant challenges in recent times. His last appearance for the national team was in October 2023 during a match against Uruguay, where he was stretchered off with an injury.

The forward missed the 2024 Copa America tournament and has also been excluded from Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the ongoing World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

This latest health setback comes at a crucial time as Neymar has been working to regain his form after returning to his boyhood club Santos.
