The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be looking to continue their impressive run under coach Eric Chelle when they face Russia in an international friendly at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Friday night.

Chelle, who has overseen three victories and one draw in his four matches at the helm, emphasized the importance of maintaining the team's winning momentum despite the friendly nature of the encounter.

Chelle's Winning Formula

"Tomorrow's game is a friendly, but we have serious goals: firstly, we want to win, secondly, to prepare for the next tournaments and qualifying matches," Chelle stated during a pre-match press conference in Moscow.

The Super Eagles are riding high following their triumph at the recent Unity Cup, where they defeated their eternal rivals Ghana and Jamaica's Reggae Boys to lift the trophy.

Missing Key Players

Nigeria will be without several star players for the fixture, including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Wilfred Ndidi. Despite these absences, Chelle remains confident in his squad's ability to perform.

"We know that the Russian national team is a very strong team. It has many high-class players, they demonstrate an intense, aggressive and technically equipped game," the 47-year-old Malian tactician acknowledged.

He added, "Now I am thinking about how to build a plan for the upcoming match," indicating his strategic approach to the challenge ahead.

Building on Recent Success

The match against Russia represents another opportunity for the three-time African champions to build cohesion and test their tactical setup ahead of crucial World Cup qualifying fixtures.

Team captain William Troost-Ekong has also expressed confidence in the team's preparation, suggesting they are well-acquainted with Russia's strengths and weaknesses.

The friendly kicks off at the Luzhniki Stadium on Friday night, with Nigerian football fans eager to see if their team can continue their positive trajectory under Chelle's guidance.
