Former Russian national team manager Anatoly Byshovets has drawn comparisons between Nigeria's Super Eagles and the German national team ahead of Friday's international friendly match in Moscow.

The 79-year-old coach, who previously led the USSR team against Nigeria, highlighted similarities in playing styles between the two nations, describing the Super Eagles as an "African version" of Germany.

"I can say as a coach who led the USSR team against Nigeria that this is a team that's associated with the Germany team, only in an African version," Byshovets told Sport-Express. "They play power football and the winner is the one who wins in single combats."

Byshovets believes the friendly match will provide valuable experience for the Russian squad under head coach Valery Karpin. "I think such experience will be useful for our players. The work done by Karpin is thankless in terms of waiting for official matches," he added.

Key Super Eagles Players to Miss Moscow Friendly

The Nigerian team will be without several key players for the encounter, including Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Ola Aina, Victor Osimhen, and Ademola Lookman. The absence of these star players has reportedly drawn criticism from some Russian football circles.

Despite these absences, the match represents an important test for both teams as they continue their preparations for upcoming competitive fixtures. For Nigeria, it's an opportunity to test squad depth and tactical flexibility against European opposition.

The friendly match is scheduled to take place on Friday in Moscow, with local fans eager to see how their national team performs against the power football style that Byshovets associates with the Super Eagles.
