Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has advised England midfielder Mason Mount to leave the club, claiming the player has failed to establish his identity since joining from Chelsea.
Parker, speaking to AceOdds, delivered a scathing assessment of Mount's contributions since his £55 million plus £5 million move from Chelsea in 2023.
"I've said it before, but I just can't ever see him having a key role at Manchester United," Parker stated. "He has no standout qualities and now we're really seeing why Chelsea were happy to let him go."
The United legend didn't hold back in his criticism, suggesting Mount needs to reassess his career path. "He's clearly one of those players who would benefit from finding a new club. I think he needs to figure out who he is as a footballer. What is his identity? He has no identity."
Mount's Disappointing United Career
Since joining Manchester United, Mount has struggled to make a significant impact. In 46 appearances across all competitions, the England international has managed just four goals and one assist – statistics that fall well short of expectations for a player acquired for such a substantial fee.
The 26-year-old midfielder has faced challenges with injuries and form, failing to replicate the performances that made him a key figure at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League and was named the club's Player of the Year twice.
With Ruben Amorim now at the helm at Old Trafford, Mount's future appears increasingly uncertain as the new manager looks to implement his tactical vision and potentially reshape the squad according to his preferences.
Parker's comments suggest that Mount may struggle to find a place in Amorim's plans, potentially leading to a summer exit if the midfielder hopes to revitalize his career and rediscover the form that once made him one of England's most promising talents.
