Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has expressed his admiration for teammate Papa Daniel Mustapha following their partnership during the recent Unity Cup tournament held in London.
The Brentford star admitted he had no prior knowledge of the Niger Tornadoes midfielder before they played together in Nigeria's 2-1 victory over Ghana in their Unity Cup opener last week.
"It was good [playing with him]," Onyeka told BenriNews. "I didn't know him before, but playing with him was really great. He is a good player."
Both players formed the midfield partnership for the Super Eagles in their win against Ghana, with Papa Daniel making a notable impression despite being relatively unknown on the international stage before the tournament.
Opportunity for Further International Experience
Papa Daniel will have another opportunity to showcase his talents when Nigeria faces Russia in a friendly match scheduled for Friday. This match represents another chance for the Niger Tornadoes star to cement his place in the national team setup.
The Super Eagles camp is reportedly bubbling with activity as 22 players have assembled in preparation for the Russia friendly. This match comes as part of Nigeria's continued preparations following their Unity Cup campaign in London.
Meanwhile, Russian defender Krugovoy has been quoted saying, "We are not scared of Super Eagles," setting the stage for what promises to be an intriguing international friendly encounter.
The emergence of Papa Daniel in the national team setup adds to the growing pool of midfield talents available to the Super Eagles coaching staff as they continue to build for upcoming competitions.
