The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a peaceful Eid-El-Kabir celebration across the state. This was disclosed in an official statement released on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, extended warm greetings to the Muslim community while emphasizing the importance of using the sacred occasion to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress in Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
Strategic Security Deployments
According to the statement, the Command has strategically deployed personnel and logistical assets throughout all local government areas to prevent any security breaches during the festivities.
"Criminal elements are hereby warned. The Command remains resolute in denying them any opportunity to disrupt the peace before, during, or after the festivities," CP Mohammed stated firmly in the release.
The police chief urged all residents, including Muslim faithful, fun seekers, and the general public, to remain vigilant and law-abiding throughout the holiday period. He specifically called on parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards, cautioning them against engaging in any form of disruptive or unlawful behavior.
Public Cooperation Requested
In a bid to enhance community policing efforts, CP Mohammed encouraged citizens to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station. The Command has also provided emergency control lines for immediate response: 0811 269 2680, 0803 746 1715, and 0703 253 2391.
This security assurance comes as Muslims across the state prepare to celebrate one of Islam's most significant festivals, which involves prayer gatherings, animal sacrifice, and community feasting.
The Command's proactive approach aligns with similar security measures being implemented in other states across Nigeria, including Taraba, Kebbi, Ogun, Lagos, and Yobe, where police authorities have also announced enhanced security protocols for the Eid celebration.
