Kwara United technical adviser, Tunde Sanni, has set his sights on clinching the 2025 President Federation Cup title as the Harmony Boys prepare to face Nigeria National League (NNL) side Abakaliki FC in the final.
Sanni believes winning the prestigious cup competition would be a fitting reward for his team's hard work throughout the season and would fulfill a personal ambition he has harbored since his playing days.
A Date With Destiny
"As a player, I only featured in the cup semi-final once — in 1989 — when I was with International Breweries Limited (IBL FC), Ilesa," Sanni revealed in an interview with BenriNews. "We lost to Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland FC). As a coach, this is the first time I will be featuring in the final, and I believe it's a date with destiny."
The experienced tactician added: "Hopefully, I pray to God to crown our efforts with the President Federation Cup trophy — for the good people of Kwara State."
This final represents a significant opportunity for Kwara United, who will be looking to secure their first-ever President Federation Cup title. Their opponents, Abakaliki FC, have shown impressive form throughout the tournament despite competing in the lower-tier Nigeria National League.
The match promises to be an intriguing contest between the established NPFL side and the ambitious NNL outfit, with both teams eager to etch their names in Nigerian football history by lifting the coveted trophy.
Football fans across Kwara State and beyond will be watching closely as Sanni attempts to turn his lifelong cup ambition into reality when the final kicks off.
