Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has convened a strategic security meeting with heads of security agencies in preparation for the upcoming Eid-el-Adha celebrations scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, focused on implementing comprehensive security measures to ensure peaceful festivities across the state. Governor Buni was represented by the Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali.
During the gathering, the governor commended security agencies for their ongoing efforts in maintaining peace, law, and order throughout Yobe State.
Security Agencies Assure Residents of Safety
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Yobe State Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ado, represented by DCP Saleh Samaila, revealed that extensive deliberations were held on deploying adequate security measures for the celebration.
"I want to assure citizens that the Sallah celebration will be hitch-free. Security agencies are fully prepared. We are confident the celebration will proceed smoothly," Commissioner Ado stated.
The Commissioner urged parents and guardians to monitor their children's movements during the festivities and cautioned against reckless driving, which often increases during celebration periods.
He further assured that comprehensive arrangements have been established by all security agencies to safeguard lives and property throughout the Sallah period.
Preparation Across the State
The security meeting comes as part of broader preparations across Yobe State for the important Islamic festival. Eid-el-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar.
Security has remained a priority in Yobe State, which has previously faced security challenges. The proactive approach by Governor Buni's administration demonstrates the government's commitment to ensuring residents can celebrate safely.
