Nasarawa United Football Club has confirmed they are currently in negotiations with technical adviser Salisu Yusuf regarding a contract extension, following the conclusion of his short-term deal with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side.
"We are trying to keep him," Nasarawa United media director, Eche Amos confirmed to BenriNews, highlighting the club's intention to retain the experienced tactician's services for the upcoming season.
Yusuf joined the Solid Miners mid-season after the dismissal of former coach Kabiru Dogo, signing a short-term agreement that has now expired. His appointment proved crucial as he successfully steered the club away from relegation during the just-concluded 2024-25 NPFL campaign.
Impressive Performance Under Yusuf's Leadership
Under Yusuf's guidance, Nasarawa United finished the season in a respectable 12th position, accumulating 52 points from 38 matches. This marked a significant turnaround for the club that had been struggling in the relegation zone prior to his arrival.
Beyond league survival, the veteran coach also led the team to the quarter-finals of the 2025 President Federation Cup, further demonstrating his tactical acumen and ability to compete on multiple fronts.
The club's management appears keen to build on this foundation by securing Yusuf's services for a longer term, recognizing his contribution to stabilizing the team during a challenging period.
Fans will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of these negotiations as Nasarawa United begins preparations for the 2025-26 NPFL season, hoping to improve on their mid-table finish and potentially challenge for honors under Yusuf's continued leadership.
