Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman has revealed that his decision to switch international allegiance from England to Nigeria has significantly transformed both his career and personal life.

"Without doubt, it changed my career and my life," Lookman stated during an interview with ARISE TV. "People know that. This is my home. This is my place. I enjoy it here. I am the son of the soil."

From Three Lions to Super Eagles

Born in England to Nigerian parents, the 27-year-old previously represented England at youth levels, playing for their U-19, U-20, and U-21 teams before making the switch to Nigeria. His senior debut for the Super Eagles came in 2022 against Ghana's Black Stars.

Since joining the Nigerian national team, Lookman has enjoyed remarkable success. He played a pivotal role in Nigeria's journey to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d'Ivoire, contributing three goals and one assist as the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.

African Football Recognition

His outstanding performances for both club and country culminated in Lookman being crowned Africa's best player in December last year at a ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco.

The former Leicester City player has continued to impress at club level with Atalanta in Italy's Serie A, where his performances have drawn attention from across Europe.

Lookman is among several Nigerian players who could potentially secure moves to new clubs during the upcoming summer transfer window, as his stock continues to rise following his international success.
