Niger Tornadoes technical adviser Majin Mohammed has identified the renovation of Bako Kontagora Stadium as the club's top priority ahead of the 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Mohammed attributed the team's inconsistent performance in the recently concluded season to their inability to play at their home ground in Minna, which failed to meet NPFL requirements.
"The season was characterized by ups and downs," Mohammed told DAILY POST. "We started the season strongly securing crucial wins in some openly away matches, we were playing our home matches at home ground late Bako Kontagora Stadium, until we had problem with our stadium not meeting NPFL requirements."
The stadium issues forced the Ikon Allah Boys to play their home fixtures across multiple venues including Minna, Kaduna, and Lafia throughout the season, disrupting their rhythm and home advantage.
Despite these challenges, Niger Tornadoes managed to escape relegation on the final day of the season, an achievement Mohammed expressed gratitude for.
"At the end of the day, we thank God we were able to maintain our NPFL status," he added.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the technical adviser emphasized that stadium renovation must be prioritized by the club's management.
"The next thing is for the management to see how we can put our stadium in good condition to meet up with NPFL requirements," Mohammed stated.
Having a compliant home stadium would allow Niger Tornadoes to play consistently in front of their supporters in Minna, potentially improving their performance in the 2025-26 NPFL campaign.
