Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has revealed that three members of the State Executive Council (SEC) are at risk of being sacked due to unsatisfactory performance. The governor made this disclosure on Monday during the inauguration of eight newly built duplexes at the Commissioners' quarters in Asaba.

Oborevwori stated that he has already confronted one of the underperforming commissioners about their poor performance. "If you are not performing, we will drop you, and that will not affect other people. If you are performing, you will stay. Like now, two or three people are not performing. I told one of them today at the chapel, you are not doing well," the governor said.

The governor emphasized that commissioners must demonstrate initiative and visibility in their roles, warning that these factors, rather than tale-bearing, would determine their continued stay in office. He urged the commissioners to be proactive in seeking him out to discuss issues in their ministries.

"As a commissioner, we don't see you. You talk, carry your memo, and look for the Governor, because the Governor will not come looking for you. There are others who are seeking me out; you have to bring energy and initiative into your ministry," Oborevwori advised.

The governor also addressed rumors about a potential dissolution of the entire State Executive Council, clarifying that there was no blanket plan to dissolve the cabinet. "You know there are a lot of rumours saying the Governor wants to dissolve the Exco. These people haven't even heard from me; this just shows that people like too much talk," he stated.

Oborevwori affirmed his administration's commitment to accountability, stating that each commissioner would be held directly responsible for their ministry's progress. "If there is a problem in any ministry, hold the commissioner responsible. Any ministry that is doing very well shows that the commissioner is doing very well," he emphasized.

The governor's warning comes as his administration continues to focus on performance and accountability in governance, making it clear that non-performing officials will face consequences regardless of their positions.
