Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has paid N1.5 million in owed salaries to former striker Sikiru Alimi following a ruling by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Players Status and Arbitration Committee.

Alimi, who currently plays for Remo Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), represented Shooting Stars during the 2023-24 season before his departure from the Ibadan-based club.

The veteran forward had been reportedly owed several months' salary by the Oluyole Warriors, prompting him to take the matter to the NFF's arbitration body, which subsequently ruled in his favor.

Confirmation of the payment came through a formal acknowledgment letter addressed to the secretary of the NFF Players Status and Arbitration Committee from Ogbemudia Endurance Iseri, Alimi's legal representative.

"We write to notify you that our client, Alimi Sikiru Adewale, acknowledges receipt of the judgement sum of N1,500,000 due to him from 3SC," the letter stated.

This development marks the resolution of the financial dispute between the player and his former employers, with Shooting Stars complying with the NFF committee's decision to settle their outstanding obligations.

Alimi has since moved on with his career at Remo Stars, where he continues to feature in Nigeria's top-flight football competition.

The case highlights ongoing issues regarding player compensation in Nigerian football, with the NFF's arbitration mechanism providing a formal channel for resolving such disputes between clubs and players.
