Nigeria's Super Eagles have emerged victorious in the 2025 Unity Cup final after defeating Jamaica in a penalty shootout on Saturday. The match ended in a 2-2 draw after regulation time, requiring penalties to determine the champion.

The Super Eagles took an early lead when Moses Simon found the back of the net with a clinical finish from Cyriel Dessers' cross. However, Jamaica responded swiftly with Kaheim Dixon equalizing shortly after.

Nigeria regained the advantage through Samuel Chukwueze, who scored a remarkable solo goal to put the Super Eagles ahead once more. The lead was short-lived as Jamaica's Jon Russell leveled the score in the 63rd minute, bringing the scoreline to 2-2.

With no further goals in regulation time, the match proceeded to penalties where Nigeria emerged triumphant, securing their second consecutive Unity Cup title.

Prior to the final, Moses Simon had warned Jamaica that the clash would not be treated as a friendly affair, highlighting the competitive nature of the tournament. The Nigerian team, under coach Chelle who made four changes to the lineup for the final, demonstrated their determination throughout the competition.

The tournament also saw participation from former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, who left the camp after making a substitute appearance in an earlier match against Ghana.

Jamaica had strengthened their squad for the final by drafting in a former Chelsea player, but their efforts were ultimately not enough to overcome the Nigerian side.

This victory adds to Nigeria's growing list of international achievements and provides a boost to the team's confidence ahead of upcoming competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations which striker Cyriel Dessers has publicly targeted as his next goal.
