The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has issued a stern warning to Engineer Sarafadeen Abdulrasaq Adekunle Olayiwola to cease parading himself as the Mogaji of Otepola Ibidapo family in Moganna Compound, Isale Bode, Ibadan.
The royal caution was conveyed through a statement signed by the Olubadan's Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade, which was made available to the press on Friday evening.
According to the statement, the Committee on Chieftaincy Screening and Dispute Resolution discovered during its investigation that the certificate in Olayiwola's possession was forged. The traditional council confirmed that Olayiwola was never officially installed by any traditionally constituted authority.
"The Olubadan-in-Council met on Monday, 19th May, 2025, and discovered a number of atrocities allegedly committed by Olayiwola," the statement revealed, though specific details of these alleged atrocities were not disclosed.
The monarch issued a clear warning to the engineer: "Failure to desist from parading yourself as Mogaji Otepola Ibidapo family, Moganna Compound, Isale Bode area of Ibadan will attract necessary sanctions and appropriate legal action."
This development comes amid growing concerns over chieftaincy disputes in various parts of Ibadanland, with the Olubadan's palace taking decisive steps to address unauthorized claims to traditional titles.
The Mogaji title is a significant position in the Ibadan traditional hierarchy, serving as the head of an extended family compound and often representing the first step in the ascension to higher chieftaincy positions in the ancient city.
