The Benue State Police Command has announced the appointment of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Udeme Edet as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). The appointment comes as part of recent administrative postings approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
DSP Edet will now be responsible for overseeing public engagement and media relations for the Command, serving as the official spokesperson for police activities in Benue State.
The new PPRO brings significant educational qualifications to her role, having graduated from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and International Relations.
Prior to her appointment as the Benue Command spokesperson, DSP Edet served as the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) at Ikpai Omni Division in Calabar, Cross River State, where she gained valuable experience in police operations and community relations.
In a statement announcing her appointment, the Benue State Police Command urged members of the public and media organizations to extend their usual support and cooperation to DSP Edet as she takes on her new responsibilities.
The Command emphasized that DSP Edet's role will be crucial in strengthening police-community relations and enhancing public safety initiatives across Benue State.
This appointment comes at a time when security concerns remain a priority in Benue State, with the Command working to address various public safety challenges in the region.
