Shooting Stars technical adviser Gbenga Ogunbote has cast doubt on his future with the Ibadan-based club despite having one year remaining on his current contract.
The experienced tactician expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance in the recently concluded Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, where they finished eighth with 54 points from 38 matches.
"Everybody knows I have a two-year contract with Shooting Stars and I have just spent one, but it's quite unfortunate that the just-concluded season wasn't a positive one as far as I'm concerned," Ogunbote told Shooting Stars media.
The veteran coach emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of the season to identify areas that require improvement. "We need to reevaluate the season and form a position on where we got it wrong, how we got it wrong. At the end of it all, let us see what happens," he added.
Ogunbote's comments suggest potential changes could be on the horizon for the Oluyole Warriors, who failed to secure continental football despite finishing in the top half of the table.
The coach's uncertain stance comes at a critical time for Shooting Stars, one of Nigeria's most storied football clubs, as they look to rebuild and challenge for honors in the upcoming season.
Football analysts believe the coming weeks will be crucial as the club's management and Ogunbote determine the best path forward for both parties.
