FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that Abuja is now 'working' under President Bola Tinubu's leadership, describing the President's performance in the Federal Capital Territory over the past two years as unprecedented.
Wike made these remarks on Thursday in Abuja while inspecting several ongoing infrastructure projects across the capital city.
"Tinubu's achievements in FCT are unprecedented, and in the next two and four years, you'll see what is going to happen in this country," Wike stated. "Yesterday I said the simple truth, all of us who are critics have said before that Abuja was not working but have now confessed that Abuja is now working. Who has made it to work? It is Mr President."
Completed and Ongoing Projects
During the inspection tour, Wike expressed particular satisfaction with the Apo to Wassa Junction Road, which he confirmed is 100 percent complete. He revealed that the road would soon be fitted with streetlights to enhance security in the area, with the contractor already submitting a proposal for this addition.
Other projects inspected included the N20 Interchange connecting Wole Soyinka Way with the Murtala Mohammed Expressway (Kubwa Expressway), and the access road from Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal in Dakibiyu District. Both projects are expected to be completed and inaugurated soon.
"Frankly speaking, like I have always said, the residents of Abuja deserve the best and the contractors are doing their best I can assure you that. For me, I cannot give nothing less," the minister emphasized.
Commitment to Transformation
Wike reaffirmed his commitment to focus on the assignment given to him by President Tinubu to transform Abuja into a befitting capital city that Nigerians would be proud of.
"You can see the infrastructure in terms of roads. It is unimaginable and we will continue to do that," he said, adding that President Tinubu had insisted that Nigerians deserve the best.
The minister concluded by calling on FCT residents to fulfill their obligations and support the administration's efforts for the benefit of Abuja and all Nigerians.
