Nigerian defender Igoh Ogbu has extended his stay with Czech Republic champions Slavia Prague, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.
The 25-year-old center-back, who played a crucial role in Slavia Prague's recent Czech League title triumph, penned a one-year contract extension last week, expressing his delight at continuing with the club.
"It's amazing for me to stay at Slavia. To continue to be part of this family. It's great, it means a lot to me," Ogbu told the club's official website following the announcement.
First Trophy Celebration
The recent season marked a significant milestone in Ogbu's career as he secured his first trophy with Slavia Prague. The former Lillestrøm player was instrumental in the team's championship-winning campaign.
Reflecting on the achievement, Ogbu said: "Yes, definitely. I will remember the season for the rest of my life. It is my first trophy with Slavia, the first league. I think I will really remember it for the rest of my life, it is the first time in my career that I have achieved something like this."
The contract extension demonstrates Slavia Prague's confidence in the Nigerian international, who has established himself as a key figure in the team's defensive setup since joining the club.
Ogbu's continued presence at Eden Park will likely boost Slavia Prague's ambitions to defend their league title and make an impact in European competitions in the coming seasons.
