The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that several key players, including Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Antoine Semenyo, will not feature in Ghana's squad for the upcoming Unity Cup 2025 match against Nigeria's Super Eagles.
According to an official statement released by the GFA, Kudus, KamalDeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, Elisha Owusu, and Semenyo are all recovering from minor injuries and have been ruled out of the tournament.
The list of injured players also includes Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Abdul Mumin, Tariq Lamptey, Alidu Seidu, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Iñaki Williams, further depleting Ghana's options for the competition.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has granted Thomas Partey and Michael Baidoo a break from international duty, while Jerome Opoku, Kingsley Schindler, and Alexander Djiku were not released by their Turkish clubs as the season is still ongoing.
Additionally, Joseph Paintsil and Osman Bukari are unavailable for selection due to commitments with their clubs in the ongoing Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
The highly anticipated clash between Ghana's Black Stars and Nigeria's Super Eagles is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, at the Gtech Stadium in London.
The Unity Cup 2025 tournament kicks off today (Tuesday) with Jamaica facing Trinidad and Tobago in the opening match. Nigeria enters the competition as defending champions, aiming to retain their title against Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Super Eagles have already begun preparations for the tournament, with 20 players reported to have arrived at their London camp for their first training session.
