Rivers United technical adviser, Finidi George, has announced plans to strengthen his squad with experienced players ahead of their CAF Champions League campaign.

The former Super Eagles winger revealed that up to six players with continental experience will be recruited to enhance the team's performance in Africa's premier club competition.

"Four, five or six additions isn't bad for a group like this. We won't just bring in players, we will recruit trusted players with continental experience as well," Finidi told Rivers United's media.

Finidi's decision stems from his previous experience with Enyimba in their continental engagement against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, where he observed players struggling to cope with the pressure of high-stakes continental football.

"It's not just to bring players and when it gets to the continent they shrink. I know what I saw in Enyimba against Wydad Casablanca in Morocco. Some players couldn't cope with the noise in the atmosphere," he explained.

The technical adviser emphasized the importance of proper preparation for the CAF Champions League, acknowledging the challenges ahead while expressing determination to assemble the right personnel.

"We need a couple of experienced players in that field so we don't get to the continent and struggle. We know the CAF Champions League will be difficult, we have to prepare properly and get the right legs," Finidi added.

Rivers United secured their place in the CAF Champions League after finishing second in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), with Finidi's leadership proving instrumental in their successful domestic campaign.
