Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare has been crowned the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League for the 2024/25 season after an impressive campaign with KRC Genk.

The 24-year-old striker netted 21 goals and provided six assists in 40 league appearances for Thorsten Fink's side, showcasing his clinical finishing ability throughout the season.

Arokodare shared the same goal tally with STVV forward Adriano Bertaccini, but claimed the prestigious award based on the away goals rule. The Nigerian international scored 11 goals on the road during the regular season and added two more away goals during the playoffs, giving him the edge over his rival.

Despite Arokodare's individual brilliance in front of goal, KRC Genk failed to secure the league title. Union Saint-Gilloise emerged as champions, ending their 90-year wait for Belgian Pro League glory.

This achievement adds to Arokodare's growing reputation in Belgian football, where he has previously won the Ebony Shoe Award, becoming the sixth Nigerian to receive this honor which recognizes the best African player in the Belgian league.

The striker's impressive form has reportedly attracted interest from German giants Borussia Dortmund, who are considering a move for the prolific Nigerian forward according to recent reports.

Arokodare's achievement continues the tradition of Nigerian forwards making their mark in European football, particularly in the Belgian top flight where several compatriots have previously excelled.
