The Super Eagles of Nigeria held their first training session in London on Monday night at the Hanwell Town Football Club training facility as they prepare for the upcoming Unity Cup invitational tournament.
Twenty-two players participated in the training session under the watchful eye of head coach Eric Chelle. The team is still awaiting the arrival of four more players – Maduka Okoye, Amas Obasogie, Christantus Uche, and Tolu Arokodare – to complete the squad.
The Nigerian national team will continue their preparations with another training session at the same facility on Tuesday before facing their West African rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana, in their opening fixture of the tournament.
The highly anticipated match against Ghana is scheduled for Wednesday at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London, with kick-off set for 7 pm Nigerian time.
This tournament comes amid some notable omissions from the squad, as Coach Chelle previously explained his decision to drop star players Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman for the competition.
Meanwhile, Ghana's coach Otto Addo has already unveiled his 23-man squad for the tournament, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting clash between the two African football powerhouses.
The Unity Cup serves as important preparation for both teams ahead of their upcoming competitive fixtures in various international competitions.
