Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved the immediate removal of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Cyprian Akaolisa, from office.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, Declan Mbadiwe Emelumba, the dismissed commissioner has been directed to hand over all government property under his care to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, with immediate effect.

The statement read: "The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, has approved the immediate removal from the office of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr C.O.C Akaolisa."

It continued, "The erstwhile commissioner has been directed to hand over all government property under his care to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, immediately."

The terse statement did not provide reasons for Akaolisa's sudden removal from the cabinet. As of the time of this report, no replacement has been announced for the position of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Imo State.

This development comes as Governor Uzodimma continues to make adjustments to his administration in what political observers see as efforts to strengthen governance in the state.
